About the Silver City Arts and Cultural District

The Silver City Arts and Cultural District is a place with proposed boundaries, including Historic Downtown and the WNMU campus, but the cultural plan extends to the broader Grant County New Mexico area.

The ACD Coordinating Council is a group of collaborating organizations and individuals, knowledgeable about and interested in understanding the needs of the arts and cultural community and are working in support of arts and culture through their respective organizations, businesses and partnerships.

The Arts and Cultural District Coordinating Council is a clearinghouse of resources, supporting those offering activities or running businesses in the ACD. The Coordinating Council facilitates promotion of the district, as well as advocacy and forum areas for culture and the arts.

The terms artists and cultural entrepreneurs cover all arts disciplines and are not limited to visual artists.

The ACD recognizes the multi-cultural heritage of southwest New Mexico, its diversity, and our close physical and cultural connections with Mexico.

The Cultural Plan is a strategic plan that looks at broad goals and objectives. Individual projects implemented by members of the ACD Coordinating Council help achieve these goals and objectives.
