Silver City Blues Festival 2013Thousands of people from across New Mexico and surrounding states will head to Silver City to hear the rising stars of blues music and savor the local culture during Mimbres Region Arts Council’s 18th annual “Silver City Blues Festival” on Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26, 2013.

According to David Steinberg of the Albuquerque Journal, “Silver City fest is gold standard for blues”, and this free festival is packed with top local and rising stars.

Saturday and Sunday performances are at Gough Park and free to the public! Start times are Saturday at 12:15 pm and Sunday at 12 noon, and the whole thing kicks off with a dance on Friday night at the Buffalo Dance Hall in Historic Downtown Silver City.

Tommy Castro and the Painkillers, Corey Harris and The Rasta Blues Experience, and Maria Muldaur & the Red Hot Bluesiana Band are just three of the incredible acts scheduled for this year’s Blues Festival.

Vendors will offer handmade and one-of-a-kind fiber arts pieces, pottery, and jewelry in the Artisans Courtyard near Gough Park during the event. While browsing and shopping, festival-goers can also stop at one of the many unique food vendors to sample a variety of traditional festival and ethnic foods.

The Mimbres Region Arts Council provides quality programs that foster an appreciation and understanding of the arts, serve as a resource for artists and cultural entrepreneurs, and positively impact the area’s economy by creating events and experiences that enhance the region’s appeal as a premier destination.
